TRURO, N.S. — During a nomination meeting Thursday evening, NDP members chose Katlheen Kevany as the candidate for the upcoming Truro-Bible Hill-Millbrook-Salmon River byelection.
Daniel Criss, Joan Keller and Todd White were also seeking the nomination.
Kevany is an Associate Professor at Dalhousie University’s Faculty of Agriculture in Bible Hill. Her work focuses on sustainable agriculture and community well-being. She's an active volunteer in the area and has been involved with environmental and community development organizations and public committees. She is also an experienced candidate with the NDP in Ontario.The NDP represented the Truro-Bible Hill-Millbrook-Salmon River riding since 2009, until Lenore Zann resigned in the summer to run as a Liberal in the recent federal election.The premier has not set a date for a by-election.
