TRURO, N.S. – A Pictou Landing man who pled guilty to refusing the breathalyzer and resisting arrest was given a four-month conditional sentence in provincial court in Truro on Wednesday.

Donald Joseph Brooks, 44, of Birch Street., must also serve 18 months of probation following his conditional sentence. And he is prohibited from driving any motorized vehicle for three years.

Under the terms of his conditional sentence, Brooks is subject to house arrest for the full four months.

He is further prohibited from possessing or consuming/using alcohol or illicit drugs and must take counselling as directed for alcohol consumption and mental health issues. Brooks is also prohibited from entering establishments where alcohol is a primary source of business.

The same restrictions apply during his probation period.

Brooks also pled guilty to breaching a court undertaking on June 9 by consuming alcohol.
