Four school board seats to be contested

TRURO – A dozen of the 16 seats with the Chignecto-Central Regional School Board will go uncontested in the election next month.

The Chignecto-Central Regional School Board passed its 2016-17 budget at a meeting in Pictou County on Wednesday night.

Two of those 12 seats will be held by two new members – Reg Pauley in District 5 and Robert George in District 7.

In the four seats to be contested, the incumbents are all re-offering and will face at least one opponent.

The school board also has a First Nations seat, however, that position is not by election, instead by appointment from the provincial education minister.

When it comes to the new Truro seat on the Conseil scolaire Acadien provincial (District 11), Jerome Breau was acclaimed to the position.
