The 21st annual River John old-time fiddling contest, which is part of the community’s Festival Days, will be held on July 22. The event gets underway at 7 p.m. in the River John fire hall.
Contestants are expected to come from throughout the province as well as from New Brunswick and PEI and will be divided into four categories: 11 and under; 12 to 17; 60 and older; and an open class.
Trophies and cash awards will be presented to the first, second and third-place winners in each class. Prizes will also be given to the contestant with the overall highest marks and the youngest and second youngest fiddler.
Judges and step dancers will entertain between classes.
