A four-year old boy was removed from a home in Onslow Mountain during a search that resulted in the seizure of narcotics and a loaded weapon.
A 29-year-old man was also arrested during the bust and is facing numerous drug- and weapons-related charges. The man, who was not identified, was released on a number of conditions and is scheduled to appear in provincial court in Truro on Nov. 28.
The bust occurred Tuesday (Sept. 11) at approximately 6 p.m. when members of the Colchester District RCMP, the Colchester Integrated Street Crime Unit (SCEU), Colchester General Investigation Section (GIS) and Local Intelligence Officers of Criminal Intelligence Service of Nova Scotia (CISNS) searched a home on Onslow Mountain Rd.
The bust resulted in the seizure of a quantity of drugs, including: cocaine, methamphetamine and marijuana.
A loaded AR-15 .22 rifle, brass knuckles and a stun gun was also seized along with a side-by-side/ATV and a sports utility vehicle.
Six people were in the home at the time of the search, including the four-year-old boy who was safely removed.
The specific charges include:
trafficking of cocaine;
possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking;
possession of methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking;
production of cannabis marijuana;
possession of cannabis marihuana for the purpose of trafficking;
three counts of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose;
unauthorized possession of a firearm;
two counts of unauthorized possession of a prohibited device;
unsafe storage of a firearm;
unauthorized possession of a weapon in a motor vehicle;
possession of a weapon obtained by the commission of an offence.
