A Truro woman who was sentenced in January to a two-year prison term has died.

A news release from Correctional Services Canada (CSC) on Wednesday said Samantha Wilma Mae Wallace, 28, died March 2 at the Colchester East Hants Health Centre after being transported from the Nova Institution for Women in Truro.

“Her family was present when Ms. Wallace passed away,” the release said.

Wallace was sentenced on Jan. 9 to a federal sentence of two years, two months and one day time for issuing death threats to a man and his family.

The CSC cited her list of convictions as extortion, criminal harassment, possession of a weapon for dangerous purposes, public mischief (by reporting a false bomb threat) and two counts of failing to comply with a probation order.

The CSE said it will be reviewing the circumstances of the incident surrounding Wallace's death.
