Firefighters from Truro, with mutual aid coming from Bible Hill, responded to a fire at Cheung’s Wok Take-Out on Prince Street on Sunday. When they arrived on scene around 10 p.m., firefighters saw heavy smoke and fire on the main floor, which then expanded to the second.

Truro Fire Service Chief Blois Currie said the restaurant at Cheung’s Wok Take-Out, 1044 Prince St., received damage from both fire and smoke. Firefighters from Truro, with Bible Hill providing mutual aid, were called to the scene around 9:55 p.m.

“When we arrived, there was heavy smoke and fire on the main floor, which expanded to the second floor,” said the chief.

The second floor contains an apartment, however, Currie said it was vacant at the time, as was the business on the main floor.

The cause of the fire is undetermined at this time.

“We’re sending the fire inspector in, and probably bringing in a second inspector,” said Currie.

During the fire, the chief said a motorist attempting to turn around at the scene collided with a fire hydrant, which was undamaged.
