LUNENBURG, N.S. — A spooked horse crashed into the window of a Subway restaurant on Sunday.

The horse was pulling a Trot in Time Buggy Rides cart, with a driver and two passengers on board, through Lunenburg during the early afternoon of May 19 went it took off. A parked car was struck before the horse collided with the window of the Montague St. business. There were no customers in the restaurant at the time.

No people were injured, but RCMP reported the horse required stitches.

In a Facebook post, Trot in Time Buggy Rides Ltd. stated, “We are looking further into the incident on Montague Street. Our wonderful horse was seen by the local vet, received a few stitches and will be given extra care and love over the coming days. As we continue to look into this we will make any adjustments to ensure the ongoing safety of all concerned.”

Last summer, a Lunenburg woman raised concerns about the horses working under very hot conditions.
