Morgan is the newest canine to join Halifax Regional Police. He’s currently completing his police training and is scheduled to be sworn-in some time in December. The one-year-old German shepherd is a general service dog with a speciality in explosives detection. He will serve alongside his partner, Cst. Phil MacDonald, whose current canine, Steeler, is retiring at the end of the year.
Morgan is the namesake of the late Cst. Joseph Ronald (Ron) Morgan, who had a passion for German shepherds.
“My husband was a certified trainer and handler of police dogs for years, and I’m sure he’d be honoured by this kind gesture,” said Sheila Morgan.
