An Enfield man is facing attempted murder and other charges after a man and woman were attacked in an Oakfield home last week.

RCMP said in a release that they were called just after midnight by someone reporting that someone had been attacked with a weapon.

They said a man arrived at the home and assaulted a 40-year-old man with a tool case, causing serious injuries. A 50-year-old woman tried to stop the attack and was also assaulted, but not with the case and she was not injured. Another woman in the home called police.

The suspect was arrested at the home. Police have charged Dave John Simms with attempted murder, aggravated assault, assault with a weapon, assault, and uttering threats.

He was released on conditions and is scheduled to appear again in Dartmouth provincial court April 26.

The victim is still in hospital. Police say he and Simms are known to each other.
