BIBLE HILL, N.S. – A nine-month investigation by the Colchester District RCMP has led to the arrest of a Brookfield man in relation to an armed robbery in Debert.

The robbery occurred at a Debert convenience store shortly before 9 p.m. last May 23 when two men, one of whom had a firearm, entered the store and demanded money, cigarettes and lotto tickets.

Two employees tried to stop the men from stealing and were assaulted by them. The men fled the store with over $2,000. The employees had minor injuries but did not require hospital treatment.

The suspect, who was not identified in the RCMP news release, has been charged with robbery with a firearm and is to appear in court at a later date.

He was released from custody on a court recognizance.
