TRURO, N.S. — British Prime Minister Theresa May announced she will step down as leader of the U.K. Conservative Party on June 7.
May made the annoucement Friday morning, May 24.
During her speech, she said she deeply regrets that she has been unable to deliver Brexit. Becoming emotional at the end, she concluded by saying, "I will shortly leave the job that it has been the honour of my life to hold."
May will remain as prime minister until a new leader is chosen.
