A bird tripped a substation transformer and left about 8,000 Nova Scotia Power customers in Halifax without power for a short time on Sunday afternoon.
The outage covered a wide swath of the Halifax peninsula.
NSP spokeswoman Melissa Foshay said crews were on their way to the substation on Kempt Road at about 3 p.m.
The number of those affected was reduced to 2,779 by 3:15, according to the NSP’s outage map, and it was clear of outages by 3:45.
“It appears there was an animal obstructing the transformer,” Forshay said. “It was a bird, a seagull.
“Everything has been cleared up, according to our operations team and we just thank our customers at this time for their patience.”
