HALIFAX, N.S. – Police in Halifax arrested and charged a 26-year-old Halifax man in the early hours of the first day of 2019 after a victim was stabbed.

Just before 2 a.m., Tuesday Halifax Regional Police responded to a report of an injured male with stab wounds in the 1800 block of Grandville Street, Halifax. Patrol officers, along with a police service dog, responded to the area and conducted a thorough search.

Officers located and arrested the suspect in the 2300 block of Brunswick Street. The 26-year-old man was charged with attempted murder, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and breach of probation. He is being held in custody and will appear in Halifax Provincial Court on Wednesday.

The 20-year-old male victim remained in hospital receiving treatment for his injuries.

Investigators with the General Investigation Section of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division are conducting the investigation.
