Village Family PharmaChoice (VFP) is expanding into Truro. If you have had the opportunity to visit their small, clinical health centre in Bible Hill, you already know they offer much more than the standard pharmacy services. Deborah Ellis and Sandeep Sodhi, dispensing and injection-certified pharmacists and owners of the two pharmacies, plan to expand their pharmacy care to a new group of clientele. Deborah is also a Certified Diabetic Educator and has been able to help many patients manage and stay healthy with diabetes, something she intends to continue at the new location.

The name of the new pharmacy, West End Family PharmaChoice is special, Sandeep says. “The name speaks about the location of our pharmacy in the heart of Truro, as well as our family focus. And the PharmaChoice group is special and also like family. It brings stability with more than 800 independent pharmacies across Canada,” he says. “When you become a patient at one of our pharmacies, you become part of the family. We will help you in any way we can — just like family!”

The pharmacy was intentionally located between a medical practice and a dental practice, Sandeep says so that when both clinics are open, there will be access to the pharmacy through adjoining doors. “These doors will remain open so that if you are at the doctor’s office, you can easily leave their waiting area and wander over to the pharmacy to get your prescription filled,” he explains.

This also allows easy access to important medical information between all three health centres, should you choose, says Sandeep. Simply authorize the pharmacy to set up a file at either of their two locations, and it will save you time when you come in for a prescription.

Likewise, while people are waiting to see their dentist or hygienist, they can browse at the pharmacy for basic over-the-counter essentials, as well as health and beauty products. “If you require an antibiotic before your dental procedure, we can help with that. If you require special oral-care products that your dental professional recommends, just come back after your appointment as well,” says Sandeep.

Because the new store is almost double the size of the Bible Hill location, Sandeep and Deborah plan to offer a variety of new products, including a larger Home Health Care Centre. They are also eager to be able to provide their brand of friendly service to the local businesses and residents nearby. “Even before we opened the new location, we already received so many calls and congratulations from our neighbours and friends,” says Sandeep.

Sandeep and Deborah say they believe this is a much-needed location and service in this part of town. “We listened to everyone’s requests and will try and stock as much of the merchandise people have requested as we can.” He adds that anything they don’t already carry on-site, they can usually get next day.

This past March, during Pharmacy Awareness Month, some of the Village Family PharmaChoice patients wanted to show their appreciation for the commitment to customer service and care that VFP continues to offer. Their video testimonies were posted on the Village Family PharmaChoice Facebook page. Check out their page and Like!

Sandeep and Deborah want to bring that same care and commitment to the new location at 510 Prince St. in the Eagle’s Landing Medical Plaza. Other tenants are West End Medical Centre, Victoria Court Dental, Truro Medi-Spa and the Physio One Health Clinic.

“We are very excited to be once again joining many like-minded health-care providers in one convenient, central location of Truro,” Sodhi says. Our current staff will be available to our clientele at both locations, including Village Family PharmaChoice.
