The New Year was celebrated a little early when people gathered for a fun musical performance at the Marigold Cultural Centre.
On Dec. 28, alumni and instructors from the Spotlight Musical Theatre program brought humour and music to the stage when they took part in A Very Merry New Year.
The show was a ‘pay what you can’ event and it raised $700 for the theatre program.
The script, written by Margot Bégin, was based on holiday specials where friends come to visit, and everyone gathers around the piano and shares music. The musical selections ranged from traditional holiday favourites to pieces from past Spotlight shows and other theatre.
Andrew Morrisey, who has been performing in theatre in Montreal, was in town for Christmas and played the part of the host.
Bégin directed the show and Rachel O’Brien was the musical director.
