Angels, animals and music box Christmas carols will be a part of ‘The Nativity Story’ being presented by Maritime Marionettes.

“We’ve been doing this show many years, but usually at the Alderney Landing Christkindlemarket,” said Heather Taylor who, along with her husband Darryll, creates and handles the marionettes.

“There’s no narration, but there’s music box music of familiar Christmas carols. “It’s a very moving show, like a breath of fresh air in the middle of commotion.”

There are 17 characters, including sheep, a camel, a donkey and a cow, in the 15-minute performance.

“The animals add a lot of life,” said Heather. “There are a lot of characters on at the end, and there are only two of us handling them so we have to use some hooks.”

The marionette show is part of the Christmas coffee party at St. Andrew’s United Church. The event, which is hosted by the Hilda Wright Unit of the United Church Women, includes coffee and treats, a bake sale and silent auction.

The coffee party and marionette show will take place Saturday, Nov. 24.

‘The Nativity Story’ will be staged at 10 a.m., 10:30 a.m., 11 a.m. and 11.30 a.m.
