BIBLE HILL, N.S.
Faculty and staff at Dal AC are providing students and the public with a comical treat this fall, staging a show called ‘20 Ways to Screw up Your College Interview.’
“We had about five faculty members in a play we did earlier this year, and I thought how much students like seeing faculty on stage,” said Joye Sears, an instructor at the university and director of the play. “I made a suggestion to the dean that we have a play with all parts played by faculty and staff, then I mentioned it to more people- and there was a positive response.”
The show combines two of Ian McWethy’s plays; ’13 Ways to Screw up Your College Interview’ and ’14 More Ways to Screw up Your College Interview.’ Two recruiters need to fill one last spot, and 20 eccentric applicants are eager to come in for an interview.
“It’s the first time on stage for some of these people, but there are small scenarios, so nobody had to feel overloaded,” said Sears. “It’s a chance for people to get outside their comfort zone, and it’s a lot of fun playing around with people you work with.”
The show will be staged Thursday, Nov. 29 at 7 p.m. in the Alumni Theatre, 62 Cumming Drive.
There is no admission charge, but people are asked to bring a non-perishable donation for the Colchester Food Bank.
