Black-capped chickadees, as seen above, are just some of the birds that budding amateur ornithologist and photographer Kelleigh Farr, 12, of Salmon River likes to photograph after taking up the hobby about six months ago. Kelleigh says the chickadees like black oil sunflower seeds, cornmeal and peanut butter and will even nest in man-made nests/birdhouses. He also likes taking pictures of red-breasted nut hatches and gold finches. One of his reference sources is a Smithsonian handbook of North American birds of the eastern region, that his grandfather gave him. SUBMITTED BY KELLEIGH FARR
