Truro author writes new children’s book about adventures with her dog

TRURO, N.S. — Children can play hide-and-seek with woodland creatures in Mercedes Blair’s new book.
In Hide and Seek with Jazzy and Friends a fox, a bear, a peacock and a deer peek out of colourful scenes.
“I love animals, adventure, and hidden picture books,” said Blair. “Jazzy and I go on a lot of adventures and the stories of how she met these animals are included in the book. She’s still like a puppy with adventures.”
The illustrations, by Nhat Hao Nguyen, are done from photos Blair took during their adventures.
“It’s amazing, seeing them come to life in illustrations,” she said. “Settings include a waterfall, woods, zoo, farm, and amusement park.
“This time Jazzy’s stepsisters – my boyfriend’s daughters, Aria and Charleigh – are a big part of the book. They’re seven and they’re very excited about it.”
Blair had a desire to be an author from the time she was a child. Her first book, Adventures with Jazzy, was published in the fall of 2017.
“There are a lot of wonderful things to see in the world and I’m hoping the books will encourage people to get outside and see what’s around them,” she said.
Hide and Seek with Jazzy and Friends can be ordered through Blair for $15 per copy, plus $5 shipping for one or two books. Payment is by email transfer to [email protected]. Books will also be available, by Sept. 1, at Enchanted Forest and The Trail Shop.
