TRURO, N.S. — The Debert Hospitality Centre will be returning to Soup Fest to defend the Favourite Soup title.
The centre’s creamy broccoli cheddar soup received the most votes last year, at Truro’s first Soup Fest.
“It was very successful last year and raised about $5,000,” said Terry Hearn, executive director with the United Way of Colchester, the organization the event raises funds for. “There was a good variety and it was a lot of fun. There was a very social atmosphere.”
Soup Fest sold out in 2018, with about 175 people attending. This year, there are 200 tickets available.
People will have the chance to sample up to 10 soups including vegetarian, vegan, gluten free and dairy free options. They will then be able to vote for their favourites.
Soup Fest is hosted by the United Way of Colchester County and the Truro Farmers’ Market Cooperative, and the Community Credit Union is a presenting sponsor.
All proceeds support United Way of Colchester Community Fund initiatives.
The event will take place at the Truro Farmers’ Market on Feb. 19 from 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Snow date is Feb. 20.
Tickets are $15 in advance, $20 at the door, and can be purchased through the United Way at 90 Esplanade, Suite 2; or by calling 902-895-9313 or emailing [email protected]. They can also be purchased through Eventbrite
Or the Truro Farmers’ Market, 902-843-4004.
