Things will be pretty seedy around the Douglas St. Recreation Centre on Feb. 23.
Seedy Saturday is being celebrated with a seed swap, workshops, vendors, activities, gardening tips, and tasty food.
“We have eight workshops and they’re all really good,” said Jennifer Tilley, one of the Living Earth Council members who organized the event. “Av Singh will be talking about growing pot at home, Gwen Mowbray Cashen will be talking about ticks and Lyme disease, Marjorie Willison will be back to talk about gardening…
“There’ll be a big seed swap, with new seed vendors, live music, and lots of activities for families.”
There will be 27 exhibitors taking part. Lee Valley will be taking part for the first time, with a display and activity area.
Green Schools Nova Scotia and Divert NS will also be offering activities.
People can also bring their gardening tools along to have them sharpened.
Seedy Saturday runs from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Admission is free, but donations are accepted.
The event is organized by the Living Earth Council, a volunteer group that promotes actions that will benefit the environment. Anyone interested in volunteering with the organization can get more information during Seedy Saturday or email [email protected]
