SYDNEY, N.S. — A North Sydney jewelry designer has hopes for an expanded market for her creations after exposure in a prominent British Vogue magazine.

Lisa Young Lee’s work is found on the ‘Jewellery Designer Profile Page’ in the January issue of British Vogue magazine that’s now on the shelves.

“It’s a tremendous opportunity to be recognized with Britain’s fashion magazine considering that the UK and Europe is ahead of fashion trends two years out compared to North America,” she told the Post.

“I believe that this will create the boost my company needs to get the brand out to the world.”

Already, the exposure has boosted sales in the U.K. market through new British customers. The company has also been approached by other platforms to showcase its jewelry, including a UK social media event and a New York city wholesalers event.

Beside’s Lee’s work, there was other Cape Breton talent featured in the magazine in the form of hair by Alma’s Hair and Salon. The Vogue piece also has Canadian writing from Caroline Min, photographer Sherri Poirer, model Morgan Roper, and make up from Luxe Beauty Room.

Lee’s company operates from a studio in North Sydney where they handcraft luxury jewelry ‘that resonates positive vibes’ through Reiki, a Japanese healing technique that uses energy. The company currently has three part-time employees. It also outsources some of its work to various business owners such as photography with Poirier and Chrissie Green.

Lee has also been asked to be part of Vogue’s February and March issues and said she feels ‘honoured to be part of such establishment.’ She’s also been offered a quarter-page slot with Elle Magazine for their February issue.

The year ahead also includes a possible trip to Toronto to be the spring ‘One-Of-A-Kind Show,’ participation as a vendor with the Port of Sydney craft market, and perhaps a visit to New York City in August for a jewelry wholesale event.

Previously, Lee’s work had been featured in Vanity Fair UK three times and Tatler magazine in Britain twice.
