The Cape Breton Island Food Network is hosting the third annual Cape Breton Farmer to Farmer Retreat which will be held in Richmond County next month.

The event is set for Sunday, Feb. 16 from 2-8 p.m. at the Groundswell Pub in D’Escousse.

This session is designed to connect aspiring, new and seasoned farming community members to learn from one another.

This retreat rotates between the quad counties annually to showcase local farmers and product to the rest of the local farming communities.

Connecting, learning and breaking bread together helped make the farming community in Cape Breton diverse and resilient.

Guest farmer speakers for the retreat will be Shannon Jones and Bryan Dyck from Broadfork Farm.

Registration is $25 per participant. This will include a three-course meal of locally sourced ingredients and spirits inspired by Matt and Colleen Johnson of the Groundswell.

There will be a quiet room for participants that have child-friendly requirements.
