When Bridget arrives at her grandmother’s home, she’s in for some surprises. Nana is running a business from her apartment – selling sexy lingerie.
Nana’s Naughty Knickers, a light-hearted comedy written by Katerine DiSavino, is the autumn offering from Hubtown Theatre.
“I like plays with a bit of the unexpected, and I like to see people laughing,” said Karen Carroll, one of the producers and a member of the theatre group for 10 years.
“Pam (Gilroy) and Donna (Jones) are new members, and it’s really exciting to have new people learn how much fun this is. With acting, you get to be something you’re not. You get to do something you wanted to do, but wouldn’t do as yourself.”
Niki Nash, a five-year member of Hubtown Theatre, is co-producing the show.
“It’s a fun show, and I like the challenge of producing,” she said. “I want to grow and develop as a person, and this group has really allowed me to do that.”
The play is directed by Nicola Scales and Brian Yorke.
Scales worked with costumes when she first got involved, and then went on to acting.
“I was nervous the first time I was in front of an audience, but these shows are very much team efforts, and there’s a lot of support,” she said.
New members are always welcome, and anyone interested in learning more is invited to contact Hubtown Theatre Society through their website or Facebook.
Nana’s Naughty Knickers will be staged Nov. 21-24 at 7:30 p.m. at the Marigold Cultural Centre.
Tickets are $24 and can be purchased online at ticketpro.ca .
