GLACE BAY, N.S. — The community’s best-known rocker, Matt Minglewood, is going to be inducted into the Casino Nova Scotia Music Hall of Fame next month.
Music Nova Scotia and Casino Nova Scotia announced Thursday that Minglewood would be this year’s inductee.
In addition to releasing more than a dozen recordings, including three gold records, Matt has more than 50 years of international touring experience. From Glace Bay to Kandahar, Afghanistan, Minglewood has taken his blend of Celtic, country, blues and rock to audiences around the world.
“I have been lucky enough to have spent the last 50-plus years doing what I love to do,” Minglewood said. "I am humbled and honoured to be inducted into the Casino Nova Scotia Music Hall of Fame. I could not have done it without the ongoing amazing support from my fans.”
Minglewood has taken home Maple Blues Awards, Canadian Country Music Awards, Great Canadian Blues Awards, a Juno award, multiple ECMA awards, including a lifetime achievement award, and was bestowed with the Queen’s Jubilee Medal for his contribution to Canadian music.
The induction weekend will be held Feb. 27-29 at the Casino Nova Scotia Schooner Showroom. Minglewood will join longtime collaborator and friend Bruce Guthro, as well as Matt Andersen and Kim Dunn, onstage during the three nights of the Bruce Guthro Songwriters Circle.
