TRURO, N.S. — It’s never too late to make music.
People 50 or older who’d like to learn to play a musical instrument, or who played when they were younger and would like to take up and instrument again, are invited to take part in the 20th Wave Cobequid New Horizons Band program.
The new wave begins at 4 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 12 with an instrument demonstration and experimentation session upstairs at the Colchester Legion Stadium on Lorne Street.
Instruments that will be taught include flute, oboe, bassoon, clarinet, alto saxophone, tenor saxophone, baritone saxophone, trumpet, French horn, trombone, euphonium (baritone), tuba, drums and percussion, violin, cello, piano, guitar and electric or acoustic bass.
The program is adminstrated and taught by Paul Barrett, a retired music teacher and professional musician.
The Cobequid New Horizons Band program starts groups of beginners twice a year – in September and January and has been operating for 10 years.
