KENTVILLE, N.S. — Rain or shine, the chalk art show must go on.
The four-hour festival was moved at the last minute from Centre Square to the Centennial Arena due to the weather, but the relocation seemed to be a blessing in disguise for participants benefitting from the completely flat surface.
Several large pieces of art were in the works, including a full-body Spider-Man by Chalk Master Dave and a scenic sunset by local artist Jaimie Corbin of Phantom Effects. But, for the most part, it was a fun-filled family event with lots of space for kids to doodle.
Half of the arena was designated for those who had registered, while the other half was a free space, where the public could come and leave their mark on the event. By 2 p.m., the whole floor was covered in chalk dust.
Sandra Snow, Kentville’s mayor, was walking around, talking with artists and families.
Other forms of art other than chalk were on display as well, including painted portraits, rock painting, and interactive 3-D floor art.
