Campaign Co-Chairs Raj Makkar and Dr. Ryan Sommers officially launched the United Way of Colchester’s annual fundraising campaign on September 19.
The 2018 campaign is about unleashing the power of love to create positive change, and this year’s fundraising goal is $275,000.
Ann Ames-Warman, women’s outreach worker with Third Place Transition House, was the guest speaker for the event.
“The support of United Way has helped us assist so many women and youth over the years,” she said. “It has been instrumental in changing lives and in some cases, saving lives. If you ever question the value of your contributions, I can assure you – they are a real gift to this local community and its citizens in more ways than you can imagine.”
Terry Hearn, executive director of the United Way of Colchester, highlighted the work United Way has funded or facilitated in the area during the past year.
Janet Gay, 2017 campaign chair, and Don Cameron, campaign team member, presented the Top Workplace Award to RBC/RBC Dominion Securities, and the Top Corporate Award to Scotiabank.
