TRURO, N.S. —

Donations of a very special kind were being given at Immanuel Baptist Church recently.

Canadian Blood Services were in town for a blood drive.

“We are heavily booked and usually here once a month,” said nurse Sarah Woycik.

Woycik has been with the Canadian blood services for nine years and said Truro has always been a good area for donations.

“It’s just the community. We are always busy here.”

One person helping to keep them busy was Christopher Newell, who was giving blood.

“It’s just one of the many things we can do to help,” said Newell, who is no stranger to the donating process. “I do it as often as I can. Whenever they are in town, I do it.”

The blood drive continues today, Feb. 21, and Friday. There are still a few appointments available. Anyone wishing to give blood can book online.
