A couple of projects are moving ahead a little faster, thanks to some recent funding.
Bible Hill received $22,000 and the Fundy Discovery Site was given $20,000 through a provincial municipal affairs Beautification and Streetscaping Program.
In the village, funds will go to the ‘Bible Hill Banners and Boundaries’ project. The first part of this project involves installing seasonal banners on poles along Main Street and a portion of Pictou Road. The area was chosen because it has a lot of vehicle and pedestrian traffic.
The second portion of the project is to have new signs placed in Bible Hill. Boundary signs would be installed along major routes and location signs would be placed at properties such as the Village Hall, Bible Hill Recreation Park, Airport Field Park, and Holy Well Park.
Both banners and boundary and location signage will incorporate redesigned Village of Bible Hill branding, which has not yet been released.
Banners are scheduled to be installed by Canada Day, with signs going up later in the year.
The Beautification and Streetscaping Program funds will cover 31 per cent of the budgeted $70,000 costs.
The Fundy Discovery Site’s funding will be used for phase two of the natural playground and to help with construction of an outdoor ampitheatre, which is expected to begin soon.
A total of $500,000 was provided to 27 communities across the province.
