TRURO, N.S. – A local owner is looking to franchise and expand a popular Truro restaurant.

Grinner’s Food Systems, owners of the Greco Pizza, Capt. Submarine and Frozu franchises, is ready to take Frank & Gino’s restaurant to the next level by opening a second location.

“Weve had a really successful restaurant here for quite some time, but just in the last couple of years we’ve focused on putting all the pieces together,” said Don Moore, executive vice president of Grinner’s Food Systems.

Created in 1999 by Grinner’s, the Truro restaurant has found great popularity and success in the community through its mid-ranged menu of everything from steaks to spaghetti.

The company recently announced its plans for rolling out the Frank & Gino’s concept to other locations, and hopes to find “a experienced operator” to take on the chains first non-local location.

“There are a lot of pieces to franchising a chain, such as operations manuals, recipes and having everything documented,” said Moore.

“In the last few years we have really focused on getting all the pieces ready to go and we feel now we are ready.”

Grinner’s is hoping to expand the chain into other Maritime communities with populations around 20,000 to 60,000 and has set its sights on possible locations in New Glasgow, Yarmouth, Amherst, Sussex, N.B., and Summerside, P.E.I.

They are open to operators who want to build from the ground up, but are also open to someone who may have an existing restaurant that could use a change.

“It takes many elements to make a restaurant a success, which for us starts with our amazing team at the store,” said Moore.

“You also need to deliver a great product, at a competitive price in a clean and fun environment.

“I think what makes Frank & Ginos stand out is its menu designed around Maritime tastes and it caters to a broad array of age groups while delivering an interesting décor and relaxing atmosphere.”
