PORT UNION, N.L. — An aspiring brewery has filed for an environmental assessment with the Department of Municipal Affairs and Environment.
Union Electric Brewing Co. Inc. is the proponent of the assessment, looking to establish a microbrewery in Port Union.
According to the release, they’re planning to establish and operate the microbrewery within the existing Union Electric Building on 49-53 Main Road in the community.
Required construction will include the creation of an access road, storage shed and patio, as well as renovations to the interior of the building.
The microbrewery is expected to operate year-round and produce approximately 940 hectolitres of beer annually.
The undertaking was registered on Tuesday, March 26 and the deadline for public comments is May 2.
The minister’s decision is due by May 10.
