TRURO – The Truro Bearcats will need the week to regroup before they head to Sydney next weekend to complete their Nova Scotia Senior Baseball League semifinal series.
The Sooners have taken a 2-0 lead in the best-of-five semifinal series, knocking off the Bearcats 13-2 Saturday afternoon at the TAAC Grounds. Friday, the visitors took an 8-5 decision.
In Saturday’s contest some of the bad blood between the teams came out, resulting in the Bearcats’ shortstop Jeff Chisholm and Sooners’ right fielder Mike Tobin being tossed from the game after they had words.
At one point the Bearcats indicated they were playing the remainder of the game under protest, though there are few details regarding what grounds their protest is based on.
Game 3 in the series goes Friday night in Sydney, with a doubleheader scheduled for Saturday, should those games be required to complete the series.
The other semifinal between the Dartmouth Moosehead Dry and Halifax Pelham Molson Canadians gets underway Sunday night in Dartmouth, with the remaining games of that series yet to be determined.
