Top two teams in MHL meeting tonight

TRURO, N.S. – The battle for first place in the Maritime Junior Hockey League takes place tonight at the Rath Eastlink Community Centre.

The Truro Bearcats put a five-game winning streak on the line when they host the Edmundston Blizzard for a 7 p.m. start.

It will be the final game of a six-game homestand for the Bearcats. Truro has won all five previous contests at the RECC.

The Blizzard defeated the Pictou County Crushers 4-3 Thursday to improve thier record to 6-0 this season.  

Both Truro and Edmundston made the top-20 CJHL rankings list this week – the Bearcats at No. 13 and the Blizzard at No. 6.

Following tonight’s game, the Bearcats visit the Yarmouth Mariners on Saturday for the first of five straight road games.

They don’t return to the RECC until Oct. 20 when they host the Crushers.
