Something for everyone during Rogers Hometown Hockey stop in Truro

Rogers announced festival details on Thursday for the two-day event, which will be held Oct. 28 and 29 at the downtown Civic Square.  

The free hockey-themed weekend will feature games, prize giveaways and fun activities.

The Rogers Fan Hub will feature innovative and interactive experiences, showcasing virtual autographs from NHL stars, a hockey-themed Zamboni video game and autograph signings by White.

The Sportsnet Augmented Reality Photo Booth will give fans the chance to get close to their favourite players through technology.

The Hockey Circus Show will feature Paz, a world-renowned hockey acrobat. Paz juggles everything from pucks to flaming hockey sticks, all while standing on top of a net.

The Scotiabank Community Locker Room is a space to engage hockey fans, celebrate the game and interact with NHL alumni.

Scotiabank will also be donating $15,000 to minor hockey associations in the community.

Other activities include the Tim Hortons ball hockey rink for pickup games, the Dodge Family Zone, which features the Stow ‘n Go Challenge – a hockey-themed obstacle course – the Playmobil Kids Zone, OK Tire Zamboni Pit Stop and live, local entertainment throughout the weekend, beginning with Mac and Hawes Saturday, followed by StoneHouse on Sunday.

The weekend will also include broadcast hosts Ron MacLean and Tara Slone and meet-and-greet opportunities with White and Mays.

White, a New Glasgow native who played in the NHL for 15 seasons, and Mays, a Dartmouth musician, will both be part of the live broadcast on Sunday.

One Sunday broadcast feature will follow Sloan and actor Jonathan Torrens during a tour at the River Breeze Fear Farm. 

On Saturday, the festival runs from noon to 6 p.m. On Sunday, it opens at 1 p.m. and runs through the end of the Rogers Hometown Hockey outdoor viewing party.

The national game being broadcast on Sportsnet will feature the Pittsburgh Penguins and Winnipeg Jets Sunday, beginning at 7:30 p.m.

The festival is being presented by Scotiabank and Dodge.
