TRURO, N.S. – The CC Riders U-13A girls team defeated Halifax County 2-0 to win gold at the 30th annual Gunn Baldursson memorial tournament in Wolfville.

The team went undefeated in four games with just one goal scored against.

The U-13 girls were not the only CC Riders team to find success at this year’s Baldursson tournament. The Riders U-15A girls’ team also won gold; the U-17A girls won silver and the U12 side also had a successful weekend of competition.

“This was a great experience for the girls and excellent preparation for our upcoming provincials,” said U-13A coach Steve Lindsay.

The Riders will be hosting the U-13A girls provincial championship on Labour Day weekend.

“It’s a privilege to be hosting the provincials here at home,” says team manager Kim Archibald. “We’ll be raising funds and are hoping that local businesses will contribute to help us ensure that visiting teams and their families have a positive experience in our community.”

Businesses or individuals interested in contributing to the team’s provincial tournament are asked to email Kim at karchibaldx2@gmail.com.
