Cougars blank Royals on home field


TRURO - The Cobequid Cougars boys soccer team got a big win out of the way on Thursday afternoon, beating Dr. J.H. Gillis 1-0 on home field.

Gavin Scott scored the lone goal for the Cougars in the first half of the game. Both teams were chomping at the bit in the second, but goalkeepers Nathaniel Singer (Cougars) and Patrick Wallace (Royals) held the fort for their teams.

The Cougars win comes after the two teams opened their season series with a 1-1 tie.

CEC will play road games against Northumberland and North Nova next week on Tuesday and Thursday, before returning home to face Riverview, N.B., on Friday and Saturday. Game times are 3:30 p.m. and 10 a.m., respectively.
