HALIFAX, N.S - The Dalhousie Agriculural Campus Rams were edged 1-0 by the St. Thomas University Tommies in their final game of the CCAA Women’s Soccer Nationals Championship, Saturday.

The Rams faced strong competition in the tournament, finishing with a 0-3, won-lost record.

Saturday, STU took immediate control, with a goal by Silvia Fullarton in the first eight minutes of play. Dalhousie’s response was immediate and they and didn’t allow the goal to shake them. The team held the lion’s share of possession time, and mustered five extremely close calls by Shanice Maxwell and company. The score at half-time remained 1-0.

Action in the second half was much the same. STU concentrated on their defence, as DAL AC went on the offensive. STU’s Victoria Muise became the player to watch as she led her team against Dal AC.

Dal continued to control the field with several attempted shots, only to be stopped by the fingertips of STU’s Mary Cronin. Dal’s Sian Rankin and Victoria Muise had several matchups that resulted in free kicks for both teams. Five minutes are added to regulation play but the game remained 1-0 for the Tommies.

Players of the Game were Brittany Bertolin of the St. Thomas Tommies and Katie Walsh of the Dalhousie Agricultural College Rams.

The Tommies advanced to Sunday’s CCAA women’s soccer championship.
