TRURO, N.S. – The head coach of the Dal-AC Rams women’s soccer team has been honoured by Soccer Nova Scotia for her outstanding contributions to the game.

Jackie Fitt-Ryan, of Stellarton, was the recipient of the Woman of Distinction Award for going above and beyond to better the game of soccer across the province.

Fitt-Ryan has coached the Rams for the past five seasons and this year guided the team to the Atlantic Collegiate Athletic Association playoffs for the first time since 2006.

Under her tutelage, the Rams carved out an impressive 8-1-3 record to capture first place during the regular season.

Fitt-Ryan’s contributions to soccer spread far and wide. She was also player-coach of the senior B women’s Northern Nova United soccer club, which won silver at the provincial tournament.

In addition to the Rams, Fitt-Ryan also coached the Northumberland high school girls team this season and is the school’s athletic director.

Before entering the coaching ranks, Fitt-Ryan enjoyed a successful university playing career at UNB.
