PUGWASH, N.S. – Owen Mullen was the top local player at the recent Nova Scotia junior boys golf championship.

Mullen, of Truro, carded a final-round 81 to finish with a 72-hole score of 24-over 312 for a ninth-place finish at the event held at Northumberland Links.

Oakfield’s Shaun Margeson won his third straight provincial junior title with 6-over 294 to hold off Chester’s Mark Chandler, who had 296.

Truro’s Isaac MacNaughton (324) finished tied for eighth, while Brookfield’s Austin McBurnie (329) tied for 12th.

Other Truro players who competed were Connor MacKay, 17th (333), Daniel MacKenzie, T-30 (351) and Samuel Stoddard, 37th (360).

In the junior girls division, Heather McLean carded a final round 78 for a 316 total to win by 12 strokes over Haley Baker.
