McIsaac ranked 12th among North American skaters for NHL draft

Truro native Jared McIsaac is the 12th-ranked North American skater for the NHL draft, according to Central Scouting.

TRURO, N.S. – Truro’s Jared McIsaac is ranked 12th among North American skaters on Central Scouting’s midterm rankings list of the top prospects for the 2018 NHL draft.

McIsaac, six-feet, 195 pounds, has played the past two seasons with the Halifax Mooseheads of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. He will be an alternate captain for Team Orr at the CHL’s Top Prospects Game in Guelph, Ont., on Thursday against Team Cherry.

McIsaac, who has five goals and 21 assists in 45 games with the Mooseheads this season, is ranked fourth among all North American blueliners on the midterm rankings list.

Fellow Mooseheads Filip Zadina (second) and Beniot Olivier-Groulx (18) are also projected first-round picks on the list. Forward Andrei Svechnikov of the Barrie Colts is top-ranked North American skater, followed by Zadina, Brady Tkachuk (Boston University), Quintin Hughes (Michigan) and Evan Bouchard (London).

Alexis Gravel of the Halifax Mooseheads is the top-ranked North American goaltender.

Swedish defenceman Rasmus Dahlin is expected to be the top overall pick at the NHL draft, which will be held June 22 and 23 at American Airlines Centre in Dallas.
