TRURO, N.S. - Two players from this year’s Truro junior A Bearcats squad are headed south of the border to continue their hockey careers.

Elliott McGuire will attend Assumption College (NCAA II) in Worcester, MA., and Graham Rutledge will be off to Bowdoin College (NCAA III) in Brunswick, ME.

It was previously announced that graduating forward and this season’s team captain, Campbell Pickard, committed to Dalhousie University.

McGuire, a native of Lowell, MA, spent four years playing Prep School Hockey with Holderness Prep in New Hampshire prior to his past season with the Bearcats. He’s noted for his versatility, and penalty-kill and leadership skills. He had four goals and five assists for nine points in 46 games this season with the Bearcats.

Rutledge, a Halifax native, was a 2015 Bearcat draft pick who played three years of Prep School Hockey with Phillips Exeter Academy in New Hampshire before starting this season in the BCHL with B.C.’s Alberni Valley Bulldogs. He suited up with the Bearcats in November and quickly established himself as a solid, two-way defenceman. He tallied twice and had seven assists for nine points in 33 outings.

Both have a season of junior eligibility remaining but leave with the Bearcats organization’s best wishes.

The Truro Bearcats are pleased to announce the commitment of two of the team’s 2017 – 2018 players to NCAA Programs in the United States. Elliott McGuire will be attending Assumption College (NCAA II) in Worcester MA., and Graham Rutledge will be off to Bowdoin College (NCAA III) in Brunswick, ME. It was previously announced that graduating forward, Campbell Pickard, committed to Dalhousie University.
