Karlee and Lindsey Burgess set to face the world in Pinty’s Grand Slam of Curling in Truro

TRURO, N.S. – The 2018 World Junior Curling Championship gold medal winners, Team Jones, including two local ladies, will be among the teams participating in Pinty’s Grand Slam of Curling Canadian Beef Masters at the Rath-Eastlink Community Centre in October.

“There are no words to describe this amazing opportunity that we have been offered,” says Karlee Burgess, of Hilden, second stone on Team Jones. “Our team is so excited, and I am so honoured to be able to play in a grand slam in front of my hometown crowd.”

The Canadian team, which features Ottawa’s Kaitlyn Jones as skip and includes Truro’s Lindsey Burgess of Truro – Karlee's cousin – throwing lead and P.E.I.’s Lauren Lenentine throwing third, will be curling against 15 of the top women’s teams in the world.

The Rath-Eastlink Community Centre will host the Pinty’s Grand Slam of Curling Canadian Beef Masters from Oct. 23-28. Full and weekend ticket packages are on sale now and can be purchased at the Welcome Centre on the main floor of the Rath-Eastlink Community Centre, 625 Abenaki Road; online at ticketpro.ca; or by calling 1-888-311-9090. Individual draw tickets will be going on sale starting Friday, Oct. 12.
