The Timberwolves pounded 39 shots at Truro goaltender Jason Rioux and skated to a 5-3 victory on Monday in Game 5 at the Miramichi Civic Centre.

The home team has won all five games in the series so far. The Bearcats look to continue that trend Wednesday when they host Game 6 at the Rath Eastlink Community Centre, beginning at 7 p.m.

Miramichi led Monday’s game 3-2 after two periods. Colby Tower made it 4-2 at 7:28 of the third and Curtis Hastings scored 48 seconds later for a three-goal cushion.

Nic Blanchard scored at 8:26, however, that’s as close as the Bearcats would get.

Jonny Erbs, Brayden Uhrich and Campbell Pickard scored other goals for Miramichi, while Denver Lynds and G Blackmore had others for the Bearcats.

Timberwolves backup goalie Tanner Sommers got the start between the pipes and faced 22 shots in his first action of the final series.
