Lanceleve, 22, will skate next season with the Spartans in France’s second division.

“I’m excited to go and I really enjoyed playing and living in France last year,” said Lanceleve, of Stewiacke. “I’m glad to go back to a city that looks so beautiful.”

Lanceleve began his professional career last season in Europe with the Sports Club Csikszereda in Romania and finished with the Lyon Lions, in France.

Marseille finished sixth in the regular season in its pool last season and was sixth out of 16 teams in playoffs.

“They have been having strong seasons, and if we finish first this year, we will move up into the first division,” Lanceleve said.

In his 30 games in Europe, Lanceleve totalled 21 points.

Lanceleve, a speedy forward, played four seasons for the Truro Bearcats junior A team from 2011 to 2015. During his time with the Bearcats, he tallied 121 points in 182 games.

Lanceleve will be joined in Marseille this season by former Truro teammate Jordan McNaughton. The 23-year-old defenceman from Komoka, Ont., played for Truro from 2013 to 2015.
