NEW GLASGOW, N.S. – A pair of Colchester County residents were honoured by the Weeks Major Midgets during the hockey team’s annual awards banquet on Sunday.

Brookfield’s Rowan Sears was the recipient of the Character Award, while Ben Fraser of Pleasant Valley was Weeks’ rookie of the year.

Sears, a forward, had 10 goals and 11 assists in 33 regular season games for Weeks, before shutting it down for the season in early February due to concussion issues.

Fraser, also a forward, scored one goal and added 11 assists in 36 games, and was second in scoring among first-year players on the team.

Goaltender Andrew MacLeod was named Weeks MVP, while Oliver Schnare and Ryan MacLennan were players choice recipients.

Weeks finished the season in seventh place with a record of 10-23-2-2 before losing a first-round playoff series against eventual league champion Steele Subaru.
