NEW GLASGOW, N.S. – The Weeks Major Midgets split their opening games with Steele Subaru in Nova Scotia Major Midget Hockey League playoff action during the weekend.

Weeks won the first game 4-3 on Saturday, but dropped an 8-0 decision in Game 2 on Sunday.

Stewiacke’s Carson Lanceleve scored the winning goal for Weeks in the Game 1 victory with 11:05 left in the third period. Benjamin Williams, on a power play, Connor MacLeod and Wayne Denny also scored in the win.

Marc Aucoin of Valley, Callum Bouma of Lower Truro and Pleasant Valley’s Ben Fraser had assists. Weeks goaltender Andrew MacLeod held the fort and made 47 saves.

In Game 2, Steele Subaru once again peppered MacLeod with 47 shots to come away with a convincing win. Camden’s Chase Carter had two assists for the winners.

The best-of-seven series now shifts to the Pictou County Wellness Centre in New Glasgow. Game 3 will be played Friday at 7 p.m. followed by Game 4 on Sunday at 8 p.m.
