Hart, a 16-year-old centre, will help fill a void created by the absence of Arnaud Durandeau (New York Islanders), Maxime Fortier (Montreal Canadiens) and Otto Somppi (Tampa Bay Lightning), who are still attending NHL training camps.
Hart, drafted by Halifax in the 12th round in June, attended Mooseheads’ training camp and was one the team’s final cuts.
He then joined the Truro Bearcats of the Maritime junior A league. Hart had an assist for the Bearcats in a 5-3 win in their home opener last Saturday.
The Mooseheads play in Charlottetown on Saturday, however, it’s not yet known if Hart will play in that game.
