Hart, a forward, had a goal and an assist on Wednesday to help the Mooseheads earn a 4-3 overtime victory against the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles in a QMJHL pre-season game in Lantz.
The 16-year-old assisted on Joel Bishop’s first-period goal just over 15 minutes into the game. He later scored shorthanded when he broke in alone and beat Tommy DaSilva with a shot that trickled over the goal-line with 21 seconds left in the first period.
“I just came into camp trying to make the team, working hard as I can and that’s what I’m trying to do here,” Hart said in an interview on the Mooseheads website following game.
Hart also acquitted himself well at the Rookie Challenge in Moncton last week, scoring two goals in three games.
Hart, five-foot-six, 165 pounds, was selected by the Mooseheads in the June draft in the 12th round, 203rd overall.
He played major midget last season for the Weeks Major Midgets, scoring 19 goals and adding 21 assists in 36 games.
Hart's junior A playing rights are owned by the Truro Bearcats.
Meanwhile, Millbrook’s G Blackmore is also having a solid Q-league camp in Moncton.
Blackmore, the Nova Scotia Major Midget Hockey League scoring champion and MVP last season, has a goal and three assists in four exhibition contest for the Wildcats.
Blackmore was called up by the Bearcats for their playoff run last season and was brilliant, scoring nine goals and adding five assists in 16 games.
